Bliss is not only a compelling intergenerational drama, but a humorous and romantic take on the institution of marriage itself. Sassi (73) and Effi (50) are forced to continue working to pay off their son’s gambling debts. Sassi is in waste management while Effi works in physical therapy and teaches Jewish folk songs to the community. As they navigate challenges with health, sexuality, and even betrayal, their grandson comes to live with them who is going through his own personal relationship dramas. Suddenly a man reinserts himself into Effi’s life by bringing up secret from her past that threatens to destroy her “blissful” family unit. Bliss asks the viewer to examine their own interpersonal relationships that can be key to survival during difficult times.
